Director CJ Johnson follows comedian Gaby Dunn on a night of LA open mics. After a host hits on her and another female comic from the stage, Gaby explains her frustration with the ongoing saga of “women in comedy.” For any women looking to get into stand up, this is a pretty good primer. But also, DO IT.
(This is a very personal video for me that I just released today after CJ told me to take some time and think it over. I want what I said out there though. If more of us speak up, then we’re not alone. Hence shout out to the hilarious and weird Allison Raskin, another comic who appears in the beginning of this video. Allison once said to me, “We haven’t known each other that long, but I feel like I know you” and I said, “It’s because this is our Vietnam. We’re war buddies.” I stand by it.)
PLEASE SHARE THIS IF YOU LIKE IT! CJ IS A GREAT DIRECTOR/EDITOR AND MADE MY WORDS AWESOME.
